PLAZA HOTEL PUBLIC SPACES

Example of public accessThe Plaza Hotel has three points for public viewing or accessing the coastline. The view at the right is of the public entrance to a large plaza area that is open to the public.  There is a small sign (see below left) indicating that this is a public access point. But when the hotel is having an event the public may be barred from the "public" plaza.

Shoreline access signEntrance to public plazaThe sign on the left advises the public that the plaza is open to the public. The little access sign can be seen in the larger version of the picture. It is located on the side of the planter near the sidewalk.

Costal accessPublic coastal overvieewJust a few steps along the street to the west or toward the Aquarium from the public plaza entrance is another coastal access point. The blue and white sign in the foreground announces a "Coastal Overview." Once you find your way through the parked cars (private parking only) you find the "overview" on the right. Another sign announces "Plaza Open to the Public – Coastal Access Available," only at very low tides or from the deck under the hotel.

View coneBeach accessThe view on the left is from street level on Cannery Row at the east end of the Hotel. This is another shoreline access point. But as you can see on the right, the shoreline is under the hotel and only useable by those that are ready to get wet.

Bay side of Plaza HotelFrom the stairs down to the beach you have a good view of the bay side of the hotel (left hand picture) and the rocky coastline on which the Plaza Hotel is built.

Plaza Hotel beachIn that same photo you can see the public plaza edge (green railing) above the white wall of the hotel resturant.  The photo on the right was taken from that vantage point.
