SAN CARLOS BEACH PARK
San Carlos Beach Park is the crown jewel for public access along
the western half of Monterey's coastline. This view is the eastern
entrance to the park. Foam Street is to the left and the Coast
Guard pier is to the right. Parking and the Recretion Trail are
to the left of this view.
Access
to the beach is the the right of the rocks. Once down the stairs you
arrive at a wide beach. On the right the view west
from the beach. The the last building visible in this picture
is the Chart House.
Moving
to the west end of the park the view on the left. The Coast
Guard pier is visible from this angle. Walking out along the pier
you are likely to see and hear our resident sea lions.
Here
is the view in the opposite direction from out on the Coast
Guard pier.
This is the view of the beach from the west end. This beach and the
near shore wates are much used by divers, especially on week ends. The
concrete structures on the beach are old cannery foundations. Local
artists have constructed sculptures inside of these structures.
Just to the right of the picture above, at the east end of the park
is this lovely sculpture/fountain.
